It begins

I woke up from my resting place in a tree this morning. I nearly fell out but I grabbed a branch with my quickl reflexes and stayed up.

The sky was the color of blood today and I could smell smoke in the air. Uh-oh. There was a village not far from here. I grabbed my bow and my arrows and sheathed my sword and ran for the village but I was too late. The ruins of the village were all around me and I could hear children crying. Many of the woman and had been taken by the pillagers and the men were all dead.

I looked around. "What horrible monsters could have done something like this?" I said and approached a young woman who was crying. She was wrapped up in a bunch of blankets that were burned. She was coughing heavily.

"Excuse me miss, what happened here?" I asked sadly and she looked at me with red puffy eyes.

"We were attacked by Lord Darkmoor with his band of renegades."

I gasped. "Oh no! That's horrible! Is everybody okay?"

"No I think I'm the only one alive." she said and tried to stand up but couldn't. I grabbed her and pulled her up and supported her. "Please don't try and stand up. What is your name?" I put her down on a bench.

"My name is Ai'hai and I am the village's apprentice mage." She told me.

"Oh." I said sadly. "So your master is dead too?"

She started to cry. "Yes and now I will never finish my training!"

I comforted her. "I will help you! I am a mage too and I know alot about magik!"

She smiled at me but was still crying. "Really?"

"Yes now let's go before Lord Darkmoor comes back!"

She smiled and jumped in the air. "Yay!"

I lead her back into the forest where I had fallen asleep last night. My bag was still in the tree but a bear was trying to steal my food!

Ai'hai screamed. "A bear! We're going to die!"

Suddenly the bear saw us and ran towards me. Ai'hai ran away quickly. I drew my sword and rolled out of the way and stabbed the bear. It roared and tried to hit me with its paw but I was too fast. I ran up a tree and fired arrows at the bear. I got one right through his head and he fell down, dead.

Ai'hai came back from hiding and kicked the bear. "Stupid bear." she said. "Thank you, miss ..."

"Syryn." I told her with a smile. "Syryn Dawnsword."

She gasped!

"Syryn Dawnsword the legendary half-elf?!" she gasped and got very excited.

"That's me." I said and shrugged. "But I'm really not that legen-"

"Ohmyiorissathisissoamazing!" she screamed. (Iorissa is the name of the goddess in this world.) "Thank you for saving me miss Dawnsword this is such an honor!"

I smiled and blushed. "Thank you." I picked up my bag and handed it to her. "Can you carry this please?"

"Anything for you miss Dawnsword!"

I smiled and said thank you to her again. We walked into the forest not knowing what would happen next.

We had to go get revenge for Ai'hai'. Lord Darkmoor must pay for what he did to her village!
